Liezel’s social entrepreneurship (SE) journey started while she was still in a corporate job. To find more meaning and contribute to the community, she nurtured an interest on business and sustainable development. She founded PROJECT SAVE, an SE that aimed to increase financial literacy and access to financial services among unbanked Filipinos. This project went on to become a finalist in the British Council I Am a Changemaker program in 2013, BPI Sinag Social Enterprise competition in 2015, and a world finalist of the Global Youth Empowerment Fund in 2016.

She led collaborations between government, private, and community stakeholders to design market solutions for small-holder farmers and prepared communities prior to social enterprise and inclusive business interventions. She also joined the academe as an instructor for Business and Social Entrepreneurship in Ateneo de Davao University, where she helped enable student-led businesses go through various cycles of market validation so that they can achieve sustainability.

One of her major forays into leading sustainability-focused businesses is as a Country Manager of GiftingLife, an inclusive business that brings access to safe drinking water for disadvantaged communities. GiftingLife has then distributed water filters that served thousands of families during disasters and greatly improved their daily water security. In 2021, GiftingLife’s Water For All program was recognized as one of the finalists of the 1st Philippine Water Challenge led by the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation.

In 2020, She founded Buoyancies Business Accelerated Inc. to address the limited access to growth and market opportunities for MSMEs and SEs. Buoyancies' core business is helping inclusive businesses sustain by increasing the value and distribution of socially-inclusive products.

She personally manages the incubation-innovation cycle of businesses in the platform, a process where products go through iterations of diagnosis and market validation to increase its value and marketability, helping accelerate the growth of SEs and providing the market with better quality high-value products.

To help SEs and MSMEs bounce back from the pandemic, she opened up a mall-based retail store (Shop Kuyaw!) that curates meaningful and locally-made products. Since then, a total of 55 MSME and SE partners have already been given access to a mall-based retail market, and over 1.3 million pesos worth of revenues have already been generated and distributed to partners.

Buoyancies (including its flagship store Shop Kuyaw) has been awarded an acceleration grant under the Innovation for Social Impact Partnership (ISIP) Program by UNDP, Australian Aid, ACTED, and Villgro, and is a winner of The Search for Innovative Women Entrepreneurs National Innovation Challenge 2023 as part of the Women Helping Women: Innovating Social Enterprises (WHWISE) program of the DOST.
